Compatibility

This software is only for Mac OS X 10.2 and later.
There's an IPA Palette-inspired application for Windows available at http://staff.washington.edu/dmontero/IPACharmap/

You will only be able to use this software with Unicode-compliant programs.
If a program works with Apple's Character Palette, it will almost certainly work with my palette.
Programs I personally know not to work include: Classic programs will almost certainly not work, though a few may be sufficiently Unicode-savvy. I haven't tried. Cocoa programs will work. Carbon programs may work, depending on how diligent the programmer has been. (Sorry if this sounds arrogant, but Unicode is one of the most important IT standards in existence. There's simply no excuse not to support it.)

What Folks Are Saying

I want to thank you very much for that software I was waiting for for quite a long time.

I'm taking my first linguistics course and hit a serious note-taking roadblock when we started to use IPA. I take my notes on my Mac laptop and just couldn't keep up the insert->character->etc routine fast enough to catch what my prof. was talking about. Enter IPA Palette.

just a word of thanks for a very nice ipa input device....your palette has a made an odious task much more manageable.
